Users are presented with a path towards their own planetary destruction or salvation by aiding animals directly impacted by the climate crisis. This groundbreaking augmented reality experience offers the first chance for anyone to step into a Dustin Yellin sculpture and explore the multitude of narratives he characteristically hides within every piece.

Background:
Dustin Yellin tells stories that weave together the idea of how both the human world, and the other worlds of critters, plants, and rocks have always already been a collection of enmeshed networks, some hidden. His multi-disciplinary approach tunnels across traditionally siloed fields so as to capture and crystallize the diverse forces of nature and machine. Through a body of work, which includes object making, animation, pedagogy, and the forming of institutions, Yellin draws attention to the paradox of how everyone and everything is interconnected. As a bridge toward a more holistic world, the artist balances descriptive poetry with a prescriptive social practice so as to span new ways of seeing and being.

We’ve now digitized one of his most ambitious sculptures, to make it available on mobile devices so anyone can live inside the layers of these fantastical worlds.

Bring it to life by walking around and inside it to reveal hundreds of narratives layered within the piece. The unfolding work depicts our near future, a period of global unrest and environmental destruction spurred by raging flood waters and massive wildfires. Here humanity is faced with a dire choice: continue living as we are or unite to preserve what’s left of our dwindling planet.
